The South Aisle
The south aisle has stencilling on a red background to harmonise with that of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. The windows here are all of three lights in order to take advantage of the sunlight on this site of the church. The eastern most window depicts the Sacred Heart of Jesus surrounded by angels playing on musical instruments. The side lights have the sacred monogram, and petitions from the Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus. The next window features the figures of St. John the Evangelist, St. Giles and St. Chad. Finally, the window just to the left of the south door has in its centre an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary standing on a large crescent moon, and with the inscription pulchra ut luna (fair as the moon). In the side lights are four seraphim, and invocations of Our Lady from the Litany of Loreto in words and symbols: Mystic Rose, Tower of David, Morning Star and Gate of Heaven.
