                                    St Giles Stained Glass Windows
The stained-glass windows at St Giles are part of a nineteenth century scheme by William Wailes. The Nave windows were partly re-leaded in the 1940s by Harman & Co, and some have been re-leaded again since.

A year ago we invited a specialist in the field to inspect all the windows. The subsequent report noted that many of the windows are in good condition and require no action, and although some show signs of bowing, in most cases this was caused by historic movement and in all but 3 cases, no work is required.

Several windows in the South and East of the church require repair and a number of windows in this area have broken or missing pieces.
Work to preserve our windows will start on Tuesday May 5th, there should be no disruption to the4 celebration of mass and other services.
Some of the repairs will be carried out off site, with windows being temporarily removed and boarded up.

The total project will cost in the region of £39,000. Thankfully we have managed to cover almost half of this through grant funding.. .
